Superbowl Ad Analysis

1.     What ad did you find most entertaining, and why? (You should be specific and give details here – what was the product and what about the ad made it so entertaining to you?)

I found the Heinz wiener comercial most entertaining.  It was a topic in a lot of peoples conversations tha night and the day the day after becauseeveryone enjoyed it so much.  The ad was for Heinz ketchup and had wiener dogs running up to the people dressed in catch up because they needed each other.  The main thing that made the ad so entertaining were the cute dogs running in slow motion in an open field.

2.     What commercial did you find the most dull/boring, and why?

The Envy comercial was the most dull and boring because there was not much going on that would usually want to make me turn my head and watch the commercial that came on tv because of the voice’s tone and no action.  Also you could tell that they tried to make it funny but it wasn’t funny at all.

3.     What about your favorite ad made it most effective?

The Heinz ketchup commecial was my favorite ad.  What made it most effective was that the dogs were cute and the slow motion aspect of them running the the ketchup in the open field made it even better.  The emotional people and music added humor the the ad as if they couldn’t live without each other, but really they were just talking about ketchup and hot dogs.

4.     What about your least favorite ad made it ineffective?

The Persil ProClean ad was very ineffective.  It was a 15 second ad that simply said that it was better than all of the others because it “beat every single detergant tested”.  That gives us no reason why or no evidence that it beat the others, and we don’t know how they tested it or in what way it “beat” the others.  The ad would not make anyone go out and buy the detergant, because it gave the viewers no reason to.

5.     Did either of your commercials (favorite or least favorite) feature any famous people?  Do you think that helped?  Why or why not?

The Heinz ketchup commercial did not feature any famous people.  The Persil detergant commercial featured Peter Hermann, to try and add humor to the commercial.  The humor may of worked for some viewers who know a lot about Peter Hermann, but Peter Hermann wouldn’t really stand out to most people watching the superbowl commercials.

     6.     What design elements or principles (lines, shapes, texture, color/color scheme, space, balance, contrast, etc.) were used in each commercial?  Provide at least two (2) and explain.  What affect did they have on the successfulness of the ads?

Business Idea

My business is going to be a lacrosse store with all of the good brands for lacrosse players that know what they are talking about.  For example a normal lacrosse player wouldn't want to go buy a lacrosse stick and gear and cleats from Dicks Sporting Goods because they dont have good gear there for lacrosse.  Dicks is more vague in the sporting apparel they sell, I am going to open a business just for lacrosse where athletes can buy D1 apparel and gear.  The name of my business would be "Becks" because both my dad and I nickname on the field was "Becky" so it relates to family tradition and lacrosse.

Snow Days

Over the snow days, I spent time with my friends.  On Thursday, when we found out we didn't have school the next day, I went to 7:00 workouts and then after at about 9:00, I went home and showered and then went to Kendall's house to hangout with Sophie, Kendall, Ellen, Melissa, and Alexa.  We had fun that night, Sophie fell down the stairs.  The next day after we woke up we ate breakfast and went outside because of all the snow.  We went to the hills of the golf course in McGreggor and went sledding and snowboarding. I almost broke my arm jumping on Ellen.  We walked home after we were all tired and got some hot chocolate and watched TV and just hung out.  The others made pizza, but I slept through that part of the night.  Finally at about 6 in the morning we went to bed and woke up around 11.  That morning, we got my ex to bring us bagels even though we all hate him.  After we went back out to the same hill and had more fun.  Melissa fell in the water and me and Sophie almost took out Patrick Sasser going down the hill.  We lost the sled in the cold water.  When we were walking back I checked my phone and had like 20 missed calls from my parents and they picked me up because I got in trouble, long story.  I had fun while it lasted!  I went home and went and hung out with people in my neighborhood and the next day Sophie came over.  She went home when they announced the three hour delay because we thought there wasn't going to be and school this Tuesday.

I have many mixed feelings about the three hour delay.  I believe there wasn't any reason not to have school, even though I would love to have another day off.  My family comes from the north and this is barely any snow compared to up there, but most people in the south don't know how to drive in these conditions.  They had multiple days to prepare for school today but the senior lot was yet to be shoveled those days, they decided to do it thirty minutes before first period started.  Due to this I was late to class on the first day back after break.  The three hour delay did allow some time for some ice to melt, but they could have prepared more so that we didn't have to wait in line from around the corner for a half an hour on the way to school.
